Q, fun to read about you and Ryder doing the father and son golf thing. I have doing that with my son (now 12) since he was about 6. As with all sports, my son got serious about golf and now cleans my clock just about every time we play (I love it!).

BTW, were you out at Harding for the Presidents Cup this past week? I took my son there on Sunday and we had a blast Tiger hunting. On Hole #6, I had my son up on my golf seat stick (he stood about 8' tall) so that he could see Tiger from a good vantage point. A young Asian female, who identified herself as an Examiner photographer, shot a few photos of us and took our names. Do you know how I could reach her to inquire whether those photos were published, etc. Since we weren't allowed to take cameras in, it would be wonderful to have such a photo as a souvenier of the first time that my son saw his golf idol, Tiger Woods, live.

Hi Greg. I'm a little tripped out right now, as I just did an image search for LL Cool Jew, and a photo of my car came up on your site. Thank you for the rap. I dig it !

What I see here is a common alignment error. Take a look at the first photo:

You are correct that your feet are aimed for a shot that starts out down the right hand side of the fairway , now take a look at the line that your shoulders are making - as you can see they are actually aimed down the left side of the fairway.

Think about the swing of Fred Couples...he always lines his feet up with an open stance (sometimes looks like he is aiming 20-30 yards left of his target) but if you pay attention to his mechanics, his shoulders will always be lined up along his target line or intended starting line.

Lesson here is that the shoulders are actually a more important alignment than the feet. You can aim your feet correctly, but if the shoulders are not aiming right, you will not start the ball down the intended line of flight.

In contrast, you can aim your feet incorrectly and aim your shoulders correctly and you still can hit the ball down the intended line.

Played with a 68 year old Asian man at Harding yesterday who was a great golfer....total inspiration, and his game came so easy.

I shot 8 over on the front with 3 doubles...he shot 1 over.

I got to thinking that I neededed to change my 'tude and decided to "ride that horse" into the stable - and I told myself that I needed to shoot even par or better on the back (to beat the old man's score) - I used it as a motivation, and even though I was not able to shoot even on the back, I was 2 over through 15 - 3 over through 16, birdie 17 to get back to 2 over.....

On 18 (playing the whites) I unloaded an ungodly power fade starting over the corner tree - career drive for me on that hole...left me 141 to the middle of the green. Hit a choked up 8 iron right over the pin, released to 30 feet...3 jacked (first of the day) for a bogey and a 3 over on the back

11 over for the day felt strangely satisfying after the 8 over front. Realized that the pure will to keep things focused really helped me to avoid the doubles that have been plaguing my scores of late.

By the way...he shot 1 under on the back for an even par round and was within 4 shots of shooting his age.

Did I mention that he was 68 years old? Or that I was outdriving him by 40-50 yards on each hole? Or that he needed some type of hybrid to hit 150 yards?

Just inspiring...

Fit of inspiration that came from the frosty beer post round and the sunny SF skies of that day.

That's as close to parenting as I wish to get...

Glad that the dilemma was solved though!

Here's my vote for best eye opening book - caution *once you read this you will not look at the world the same way ever again*

Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins

John Perkins was for many years one of the world's top economists. He worked directly with the heads of the World Bank, IMF, and other global financial institutions. He quit his work about 20 years ago because morally and ethically, he felt it was wrong to play such a key role in creating world empire at the expense of the poor and less advantaged around the world. After being persuaded and even bribed not to write a book about his experiences, Perkins states, "When 9/11 struck, I had a change of heart."
